Tandem GPS Tracking

Tandem GPS Tracking

A friend took his first tandem jump so I thought this might be another neat way to memorialize his jump. I’m wondering what other visualizations that would be interesting can be done with future jumps.

Using a Wintec G-Rays 2 GPS receiver I had Gene Stuart, Ian’s tandem instructor keep this in his pocket during the ride to altitude, freefall, and canopy ride. Each dot should represent 1 second passing. I sped it up; the ride to altitude is at 1000x realtime, freefall and canopy is at 600x realtime.

For the science teachers out there the KMZ file can be retrieved at : db.tt/HbNy21t
